What are guest towels? Am I supposed to have them in my bathroom for guests? What is the purpose of them?

My personal towels are pretty nice.. do I need seperate towels just for guests? Do I buy new ones for each guest? What is the point of having "guest towels"?

A: I have 6 guest towels, they are rolled up neatly on a chrome rack, the purpose of them is that the guests have towels to use, we do not use the towels, we take our own bath towels in as required,...

It's just a hand towel to dry their hands after they'e washed them. They don't take them home.
