Pre-Thanksgiving Day

Well, I didn't get to any of the things I wanted to this weekend.  I was battling a cold toward the end of the week and on Saturday and Sunday, the cold was winning.  I went to the doctor.  She confirmed it was just a really bad cold (on top of the vestiges of an earlier cold) and told me to go home and rest.  So I did.  Once upon a time, I did some pattern testing for Patterns by Figgy's .  I even met the designer, Shelly Figuroa, in the park for a play date once, and I can attest that she is a genuinely-kind Midwestern woman transplanted to the Pacific Northwest and that her patterns are have great directions that even a beginning sewist could figure out.  I am quite committed to no Christmas before Thanksgiving.  But the Friday AFTER Thanksgiving is the perfect day to spend crafting homemade gifts.  In fact, I host "Craft Friday" every year on "black" Friday.  If you're a Portlander and would like to come hang out with other women and...

Finally Home!

The house had a million different colors and lots of old light fixtures.  It is amazing what some paint, 6 inch baseboard and new light fixtures and doorknobs can do.  This is our awesome home and I am so grateful for everything it has turned out to be!  We did not change the colors in the master bath and the laundry room... we actually liked those! But yeah, LOADS of work and painting and repainting and cutting and nailing... without my parents we could not have done everything we did in a month's time.  The yard looks awesome too, but that's for another post altogether.

I truly enjoyed this post. I am very very into decorating. I just don't talk about it cause I have been done with my house remodel before the kids were born but I remember how much thought, sweat, effort and money went into it. You guys did a great job truly turning it into a home. I love the super bold punches of color almost in every room. The yellow fireplace is truly unique. LOVE IT.
