The hard-to-find middle ground

Towels are generally either A) Plush and complete non-absorbent or B) Thin, scratchy and really absorbent. This towel is the perfect middle ground. It's soft and nice while still actually absorbing water.

Towel Quality

The towels are much thinner than I expected but are sufficient for a guy. I can't imagine a woman liking these.

Excellent product

This is an excellent all around towel. It is huge and absorbs water very well, and appears to be quality made.

how do i keep my bath towels bright white?

I bought some really nice thick and thirsty, fluffy 600 thread count white Egyptian cotton bath towels and wash clothes and now they are not bright white anymore, they are crunchy and full of lint....

A: ~~Here is how I have washed my towels and kept them really white. Use your soap, then in the bleach dispenser fill with Hydrogen Peroxide. In the softener dispenser use white vinegar in place of...

A small amount of bleach in very hot water should bring back the white. Did you wash the towels with anything else? Most towels are woven with cotton, thready, absorbent loops, and it sounds like...

How do I stop new towels casting fluff?

I have washed these towels over a dozen times but each time they are used they leave a layer of fluff in the bathroom, its driving me nuts! They are Egyptian cotton, thick bath towels.

A: I had the same problem, so I returned them for other ones and didn't have any more trouble after washing them.

Becoming a Bride

“Do you know how we Khaleejiyaat prepare for our weddings?”

“Not really.” I say. “How?”

Abla and I are sipping afternoon tea, chai sukari, accompanied by freshly fried mandazi while sitting on her bed. We are discussing my impending marriage. Her children are playing noisily in the next room.

“Well, you should have white lingerie. I didn’t do that, though. My husband and I decided do it in the East African way. We each wore a kanga.”

Abla touches her cotton drape. Kanga is the Swahili word for the large piece of cotton material that is used as a prayer wrap and around-the-house house veil by the women who I know here. In Khaleeji Arabic it is known as a leeso or shayla. It is hard to imagine that the boldly patterned, soft cotton drape that Abla is using as a head and chest covering could also be used as bridal lingerie.

“In Africa the bride wraps on the kanga like you would wrap a bath towel, covering your chest. And the man wears it like a skirt. But over here for the wedding night, most girls get lingerie. You should at least get some white lingerie.”
