I can't remember when I first saw it from start to finish, but I do remember the first time I attempted to watch it. I got halfway through the first scene. Veronica Carlson is slowly making her way up the stairs of a creepy old house, holding a candle, while on the soundtrack we hear a man's voice whispering her name. After agonising seconds she reaches a door, slowly turns the handle and is confronted by the grotesque spectacle of a man hanging by a spike through his neck, drooling saliva, yet still faintly alive, and whispering her...

I'd like to end this piece with my sister's most fabulous idea. This piece captures the true essence of our joint vision of Country Chiq: the wash basin coffee table. She found this coffee table at a garage sale, saw past the glaring hole in the middle and instead dreamed of the potential in the ornate carvings and legs. She later discovered a wash basin for sale on Etsy, thought it might fit inside the hole, but was unable to ship the item to Canada. As she explained her situation to me, I remembered that I had a wash basin at my cottage. After a few adjustments with a mallet, and some minor tweaking, the dream was born. We added some grape vines and a chicken and voila...a chiq This mint green, shabby chair has always held a place in my heart, and it will be a proud part of this year's Christmas decor on my sister's porch.
